Read This! Dad is Fat

October 21, 2013

Dad is FatAt times it’s helpful to pick up a book outside the typical genre of self/professional development. Our current recommendation, Dad Is Fat, by Jim Gaffigan fits the bill. A professional speaker, teaching a workshop on how to use more humor in presentations, suggested I read this book. Gaffigan, a stand-up comedian, is a good study on the art of humor. Even if, after completing this book, I’m not any funnier, I sure am enjoying it. Gaffigan is best known for his legendary riffs on Hot Pockets, bacon, manatees, and McDonald’s. In Dad Is Fat, he shares the joys and horrors of life with five young children. Similar to Bill Cosby’s Fatherhood, Dad is Fat is a light and refreshing read about a man’s cry for help when he suddenly realizes that he and his wife are outnumbered and outsmarted in their own home.

Enjoy.
